Lyrics

I dedicate this to the men who are fucking up West Papua.

I have been kind to those who didn't deserve it
I have scorned those who deserved more
I have wept for my sorrows at a river
whilst a man drowned under her shores
I have lied to people who protected me
I have listened to lies with a smile
I have danced like a beggar for good wine
whilst a child lay cold on the floor

Don't engrave my grave stone
I deserve it left bare
and let the winds have their say
upon the cold stone there

I have shut out the pleas for mercy
You know I've whistled away her pain
I have hardened myself to the seasons
and I never looked back again
I have taken what ever I wanted
You know I've never before asked twice
I have jumped off the sinking ghost ship
Whilst my band played hard on the floor

Don't engrave my grave stone
I deserve it left bare
and let the winds have their say
upon the cold stone there

I have ripped at the flesh of my children
I have sown them with out hope
I have eaten their food and future
whilst I sang with this hopeless refrain
I have turned at the cross roads of redemption
You know I've laughed in the deserts white face
I have beaten my sticks with triumph
whilst I lost the last of my name

Don't engrave my grave stone
I deserve it left bare
and let the winds have their say
upon the cold stone there
